European Urban Health Cluster
Urban health refers to the wellbeing and health of people who live in cities. It focuses on the causal link between common chronic health conditions and the urban environment.
Research and innovation activities on urban health will build upon the results of the INHERIT and BlueHealth projects, among others. As there is a need to strengthen health aspects in urban agendas, the last Horizon 2020 Health Work Programme of the European Commission included the topic "Innovative actions for improving urban health and wellbeing - addressing environment, climate and socioeconomic factors".
The six projects ENLIGHTENme, URBANOME, RECETAS, WELLBASED, eMOTIONAL Cities, HEART resulted from this call, representing a total of €30 million funding (2021-2025). They have joined forces and form a network to enhance collaboration and promote the importance of considering health and wellbeing in urban planning strategies.
The European Urban Health Cluster supports the Urban Agenda for the EU and Horizon Europe Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission.
