ENLIGHTENme presents at the Light Polluation 2023 webinar
At the end of October, Giulia Marzani of the Department of Architecture at the University of Bologna presented insights from the ENLIGHTENme research to an interested audience during the 2023 edition of the Light Pollution webinar hosted by the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic.
Almost 80 participants from across Europe attended the webinar, which presented new legislation on light pollution and examples of international projects. ENLIGHTENme, as European research project, showcased their research with a particular emphasis on the lighting maps generated for the three ENLIGHTENme cities Bologna in Italy, Amsterdam in The Netherlands and Tartu in Estonia. Based on ground-level measurements carried on in Bologna, some comparisons with data coming from the use of satellite images have been also represented together with some take-away messages. The maps are part of the wider open ATLAS which is populated with projects, papers, initiatives and virtuous best practices related to the topics of health and wellbeing, lighting and older population.
Giulia also introduced the participants to the established Urban Lighting Labs and the ongoing population-based study, focusing on the co-creation process of the research by providing insights to the Urban Lighting Lab of Bologna, that switched on the new lights in Piazza Lambrakis in June 2023.
